HOURS & FINANCIAL OVERVIEW
HOUR REQUIREMENTS FOR FELLOWS
Compensation for Wendland-Cook Program student fellows for work done for the program will be $15/hour, with the option to work up to 10 hours a week each semester.
Additional hours can be approved in exceptional cases. Please note that Vanderbilt regulations prohibit students to work more than 29.5 hours at Vanderbilt (all campus employment combined) in any given week, except during holiday breaks. Different rules apply to international students and special arrangements will be made.
In addition to the basic commitments, fellows are invited to work for the program in various capacities. This work includes communications, organizing events, community involvement both inside and outside Vanderbilt University, and special student projects that have been approved and are supervised by Wendland-Cook staff.
In exceptional cases, fellows' projects may involve working with other community organizations whose goals and work aligns with those of Wendland-Cook, for example the Southeast Center for Cooperative Development (www.co-opsnow.org) or the Central Labor Council of Nashville and Middle Tennessee (https://www.nashvilleclc.org). Fellows projects are meant to contribute to individual student understanding and application of concepts crucial to the work of Wendland-Cook (deep solidarity, labor and class analysis, economic and ecological justice).

HOW TO SUBMIT YOUR HOURS
Fellows are eligible to receive $4000 total for the year ($2000 per semester). Fellows payments will be made via a timesheet each bi-weekly pay period through each semester according to hours clocked through Vanderbilt University’s Oracle portal.
As the semester begins, please be on the lookout for emails from Michael Zimmerman (mike.zimmerman@vanderbilt.edu). He will be reaching out to gather information he needs to get you set up to receive payments for the year.
For incoming students who already have an active Oracle account, Michael will get you set up for bi-weekly payments. For those not set up in Oracle, Michael will need you to share your data access with him in Oracle and complete a RedCap survey for him to get you set up. Likewise, students will need to submit their I9 within three to five days of their hire date (this date may vary for each fellow). For those students who are in Oracle but may need additional information, they will need to complete the RedCap survey and submit an I9 as well. All of this information will be repeated and detailed in emails from Michael.
Please note: Students may not submit hours until their I9 is verified and approved.
Once Michael has you set up, in order to receive payment for hours worked, you must submit a time card through Oracle for each pay period on Friday by noon.
SUBMITTING YOUR TIME CARD IN ORACLE
For help in Oracle, log in and click the gold button to the right of your screen, type in what you need assistance with and Oracle should be able to help you.
Please remember that Graduate and Professional Students can work up to 29.5 hours per week during the academic year and Undergraduate/International Students can work up to 19 hours per week. The hours indicated include all positions on campus. For more information on student employment, click here.
We understand that some students have multiple assignments in Oracle, so if you are unsure of which assignment number to select on your timecard, please email Michael Zimmerman (mike.zimmerman@vanderbilt.edu) and he will be able to send you the assignment number.
Lastly, please submit your time card through Oracle each Friday by noon, before time cards are due to HR (bi-weekly Payroll Calendar). If a time card is submitted past the deadline (after the payroll period ends), you will not be able to access it and you will need to contact Michael Zimmerman and ask him to create a time card for you, enter your missed hours, and submit it on your behalf.
