Organizing and Outreach Coordinator (work-study eligible)

Description

Wendland-Cook program is looking for a qualified intern to join our team to focus on outreach to students and community organizations.

Intern will work on a team with the Program Director, Associate Director and Program Fellows as well as with other university staff. Intern will focus on outreach to fellow students and community organizations.  

Responsibilities

  • Research and contact organizations that relate to program areas of focus in religion, economics and ecology including churches and other religious communities

  • Have one on one meetings with organizational leaders to assess areas for collaboration including volunteer, field education and event partnerships

  • Have one on one meetings with divinity students to assess their vocational and activism interests

  • Help to coordinate recruitment and turnout for program events

  • Maintain database of student and organizational contacts

Requirements

  • Vanderbilt University student interested in social movements related to economic and ecological justice

  • Eligible for work study and able to work at least 10 hours per week

  • Ability to attend events on evenings and weekends 

  • Have reliable transportation

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Self-motivated and hard-working

  • Ability to take direction and multi-task

  • Experience with community organizing techniques a plus

  • G Suite experience a plus
